On Friday, February 2, 2007 13 members of the 2006 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders embarked on an ambitious 16-day trip known as the Military Appreciation Tour.

Long-time Tampa Tribune cartoonist Lamar Sparkman designed the first Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo. Faced with the difficulty of designing a logo that didn't look too much like that of the other "pirates" in the league, the Oakland Raiders, Sparkman came up with a pirate in a plumed hat and a cutlass in his mouth. The pirate appeared to be winking. He came to be known as "Buccaneer Bruce" or "Bucco Bruce". Sports writer/commentator Nick Bakay once noted it "struck fear in the hearts of no one." After some lawsuits of logo/brand infringement from the Raiders, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo was changed to "Skulls and Swords."
